JADASEA LAMENTS

JADASEA is a wordsmith from South London, who called upon King Krule to produce his new EP Half-Life. The two have previously collaborated numerous times, such as on the release City Rivims Mk 1 in 2014 under the group named Sub Luna City. Production on 'Laments' is particularly charming and unusual. A low frequency bass hums loud throughout the song, creating a vast cavity. The beat is muffled, as if listening underwater. The key parts are gorgeously hazy and mellow. They seem to melt like slowly with their wavering tuning, making them feel vulnerable. JADASEA's words are spoken with a rawness and and admirable frankness about his mental health in lines like "Can't cry, there's no tears falling down my face". The tone of his voice is unaltered and beautifully intimate, with plentiful atmospheric background noise from the mic. -Ellie Rose-Davies
